3 Problems You Can Solve Without Computer Tech Support

A few decades ago, people required expert assistance for even the smallest problem, but these days, people are learning more and more about basic problems and how they can go about resolving the issues without calling in computer tech support each and every time. You don’t need to have a thorough knowledge of this field in order to resolve some of the most basic issues that tend to arise every now and again; understanding how to go about fixing some of the most common problems could end up saving you a fortune in bills.

1. Dealing With a Sluggish Computer

While it might be normal for computers to start slowing down throughout the course of time, this isn’t the case with new devices. If your computer is already showing signs of sluggishness and you only recently purchased it, you might want to start out by removing any of the pre-installed programs that came along with the computer. Older computers require a bit more care and attention; you might need to invest in a software program that will actually search the system for unwanted software and remove them to speed up the device, including duplicate files.

2. The Blue Screen

Most people won’t experience this type of problem, but in the event that your screen suddenly goes blue and you don’t know where to start searching for the problem, keep in mind that sometimes this is due to a lack of memory or faulty memory. Once you know what type of memory your computer uses, you can then replace the older modules with a new, updated one. Take care when going through with this, however, since you don’t want to damage the internal components of the computer with static electricity; ensure you are grounded when you begin the task to prevent this from happening.

3. Spyware

If you find that a message continues to pop up on your screen telling you that your computer is fraught with viruses and you need to purchase the advertised software to get rid of it, make sure that you don’t follow its instructions, since this is spyware and its only purpose is to get as much money out of you as possible. Instead of contacting your computer tech support right off the bat, you might want to start out by running a proper antivirus program that will find and isolate the problem. Ultimately, you don’t need to turn to the professionals every time there is a problem with your computer; certain issues are quick and easy to fix and won’t end up costing you an arm and a leg in the long run.

  1. How can I get my computer unlocked?

  2. This is some really good information about PC repair. I liked that you pointed out that you can try to remove some pre-installed programs if your PC is being sluggish. That is good for me to know because my computer has been running slow lately, and I can’t figure out why. Perhaps it would be smart of me to take it into a professional to get it fixed.

  3. So far as the last item on “spyware is concerned, i agree with what’s been said. But I’d also add there are now a lot of direct phishing attacks. By that I mean things like the “Bombay Scam” as it originated there. This is where a criminal calls your home phone , pretending to be from your ISP or Microsoft. They are lying, and you should immediately hang up the phone as their only purpose is to take over your computer and pretend there are viruses on the computer. They then sell you a £100-200 a year package to “protect you”.
NEVER take these calls -they are scammers.
